The Owen Sowerwine Natural Area, a 442 acre parcel of State School Trust Land along the Stillwater and Flathead Rivers, has been an educatioanal outdoor classroom for children and adults, and enjoyed for the past 40 years thru various agreements among Flathead County, Flathead Lakers, Flathead Audubon and Montana Audubon with the DNRC. Funds from these agreements support Montana K-12 public schools. After years of work to conservice it, the Flathead Land Trust recently completed the purchase of the conservation easement on this School Trust so it will now be permanentl protected.
My Glacier Village has arranged a field hike with a Flathead Audubon Guide to take us through this fasinating national area where we will learn why it is so special while seeing some of the birds who make this their home. Be aware: This is a nature trail, so it is uneven. Please bring your walking sticks (poles).
Please join us. We will meet to carpool at 10am in the northeat corner of the Rosauers' parking lot.
