Creating Our New Normal

Since the arrival of COVID in March, staying home has become increasingly normal, especially among seniors.  The majority of our members and volunteers are considered "vulnerable" according to the CDC, and we are challenged with creating new and innovative ways to safely give them the assistance they need and host events that will help keep them connected.

The health and well-being of our members and volunteers is imperative.  We have developed sound safety procedures, which include:

  • providing sanitizers and masks to all new volunteers and masks for members
  • requiring members and volunteers to mask up during rides and asking volunteers to sanitize their cars before picking up members
  • keeping our guest lists to 12 or less, having only two/table and sanitizing all surfaces before and after events
  • requiring masks for all events and activities and providing spaces for those who cannot mask up

The COVID pandemic has certainly brought to light the risks of isolation but the truth is, isolation isn't just a COVID crisis for many seniors...it's a way of life.  We understand the importance of social connection on our physical, emotional and mental health and our goal is to help seniors create new ways to connect and stay mentally challenged and active.
